About this course
Most AI courses start with a library that hides how learning works. This one starts with nothing but Python and NumPy and builds a neural network by hand: neurons, layers, loss, gradients and training.
By the end your own network recognises handwritten digits with over 95% accuracy, and you understand every line of the code that does it — which makes every framework afterwards much easier.

Writing the gradients by hand with NumPy is what made it click. When I moved to PyTorch afterwards, I understood what every line was doing.

Seeing my hand-written network recognise digits was a real moment. The maths is explained only as far as you need it.
Sara Beaumont
Biology researcher
The early chapters are wonderfully clear. The training chapter moves faster, so keep a notebook handy.
